Polish media: The bodies of some victims of the Smolensk plane crash were replaced
Preliminary research shows that the bodies of some of the victims of the Smolensk plane crash, which occurred on the 10th of April 2010, were misplaced, as reported by the Polish Press Agency citing its own sources.
According to the Agency’s sources, the remains from the grave of the Undersecretary of State of the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland, Mariusz Handzlik, probably belong to the Chief of the Polish Olympic Committee, Piotr Nurowski.
In early December, after the exhumation of the body from the grave of Piotr Nurowski, it was found that, according to unofficial information, Mariusz Handzlik was actually buried there. As a result, the Public Prosecutor’s Office decided to conduct an exhumation of remains buried in the grave of Handzlik in December last year.
The official results of genetic testing of the victims of the Smolensk plane crash will be presented in the coming days. According to the Agency, an autopsy was performed on Tuesday.
“A computer tomogram was performed and test samples were taken. The results of genetic tests should become known in the near future. However, there are signs that the bodies were misplaced,” the source reported.
