Chairman of Ukrainian Parliament: Russia uses the Crimea as a springboard for its actions in Syria
In his speech at the solemn session of the parliament devoted to the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Charter on the distinctive partnership between Ukraine and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Andriy Parubiy, stated that the Crimea has become a springboard for Russia's actions in Syria.
In speaking about the "occupation" of the Crimea, he noted that "the seizure of the peninsula and the possible deployment of nuclear weapons there turned the entire Black Sea basin into a zone of danger and instability."
"The Crimea became the springboard for Russia's actions in Syria, which has destabilized the entire Middle East, and is trying to undermine the European Union by creating a migration crisis," the speaker said.
He noted that Russia has become a direct threat to the security of Europe and the entire civilized world.
