Russia announces return of another 200 military police servicemen from Syria

About 200 military police serviceman have returned from Syria, stated the Russian Ministry of Defense as quoted by RBC news agency.

According to the Ministry, the servicemen were brought to the Mozdok aerodrome in North Ossetia by Il-76 military transport aircraft from the Russian Aerospace Forces. The Russian Defense Ministry thanked the Command and personnel of the military police for their professionalism and courage in protecting civilian facilities and providing escorts for humanitarian aid as well as for ensuring the security of humanitarian corridors in the  de-escalation zones.

On July 17, the Ministry of Defense announced the return of 100 military policemen from Syria.  Earlier, two Мi-8АMTSH helicopters and their crews returned to the permanent base in the Novosibirsk region.

At the end of June, more than 150 military policemen had returned to Russia after carrying out military tasks in Syria. At that time, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that more than 1,100 servicemen will return to Russia from Syria soon.
