Kremlin to reimburse foreigners for visiting Russia
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has instructed the federal bodies of executive government to work on the matter of compensating part of the cost of tours for foreign tourists visiting Russia.
This was reported by Interfax on Friday with reference to materials drafted during the session of the Presidential Council for Strategic Development and Priority Projects.
“The federal bodies of executive government must continue to work on an incentive for the incoming tourist flow from target countries by compensating part of the cost of the tour and by supporting the certification and adaptation of services,” the materials state.
During the meeting, it was also decided that several initiatives for the International Cooperation and Export project should be “taken as the basis for subsequent work in the project workshops organized by the Russian Export Center”. Among the initiatives were “simplifying the visa regime for individual types of organized tours, as well as for medicinal, educational and business purposes” and “increasing the throughput capacity of state border entry points”.
The council session was devoted to the development of non-primary exports. In his opening speech, Medvedev reiterated President Putin’s instruction to increase the volume of non-primary, non-energy exports to $250 billion by 2024, and the services export to $100 billion.
