Foreign Minister of LPR says separatist republic is open to being renamed

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), Vladislav Deynego has agreed to rename the LPR, TSN news reports.

“A same is not always important. Ukraine calls us what it wants us to call us and how European maps defined us. So be it. In international documents let’s be called what Europeans want to call us,” Deynego said.

At the same time the representative of the break-away militant-held Luhansk region (Eastern Ukraine) said the renaming could significantly bolster LPR’s positions in negotiations.

Shortly before the interview, the website of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) reported that Deynego was floating an idea about the possible return of the LPR/DPR under Kyiv rule during a recent interview. Commenting on this, a DPR authorized representative in the Minsk talks, Denis Pushylin, said his colleague was talking theoretically and downright rejected any possibility of the development of such events.
