Belarus calls on EU to lift sanctions
Belarus has called on the EU to ease the sanctions. “We regret that in February, the European Union extended restrictive measures against Belarus, which have long lost any rational explanation, and we continue to urge the EU to remove the restrictive measures that still remain,” stated Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Makei, DS News reports.
Minister Makei added that cooperation over the past few years has brought far more positive results than the previous two decades of sanctions. As a step towards lifting the sanctions, he suggested the exclusion of sporting weapons from the arms embargo. Minister Makei welcomed the EU’s intention to expand and restructure relations with Belarus.
