Ukraine classifies documents on the closure of railway traffic with Russia

Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine has classified its proposals regarding the restrictions on the railway traffic from the Russian Federation. The documents have been assigned “For internal use” status, reported Ukrainski Novyny news outlet, citing the official response of the Ministry.

“The requested document contains information with restricted access and it has been assigned “For internal use” status, in accordance with Paragraph 1(3) of Article 6, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine “On Access to Public Information,” the Infrastructure Ministry explained in a letter signed by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Volodymyr Omelyan.

In early August, Omelyan announced plans to stop commercial railway traffic with Russia. He said the option of terminating passenger railway traffic as well is under consideration.

On Friday, August 16, Omelyan announced the implementation of new restrictions on transport transit with the Russian Federation. He explained that a “historical” document had been signed and that the restrictions would not be limited to passenger railway traffic as he mentioned earlier.
