State Border Guard Service of Ukraine: new Triton combat systems are used to monitor Ukrainian border

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine announced that they use the Triton armored vehicle’s visual and technical surveillance combat systems.

The deputy head of the Border Security Department of the State Border Guard, Volodymyr Marchuk told Interfax news on November 6 that the systems were developed for use on the state border, in the conflict zone in the Donbas and on the administrative border with annexed Crimea.

"The armored vehicle is equipped with a surveillance system that uses day and night cameras. They can be controlled with a tablet at a distance of 200 meters. A 12-mm light machine gun is mounted on top while two thermal imaging cameras are installed inside.”
The State Border Guard Service stated that it would continue to patrol and protect Ukraine’s borders using these sophisticated vehicles.

After the annexation of the Crimea, a border was established between the mainland Ukraine and the peninsula that was ostensibly only a formally administrative border. There are three checkpoints at the administrative border: Kalanchak, Chonhar and Chaplynka.
