Russia plans to build a military technology hub with children’s training camps

The Era military technology hub that is planned to be built in Anapa, will work on training highly skilled personnel for military research institutes and military companies, as stated in the plan approved on December 18, 2017. The model for Era was demonstrated to President Vladimir Putin by the Minister of Defense, Sergey Shoygu, at the beginning of the year.

As RBC news agency reports, a training camp for gifted children who will be “educated in a spirit of patriotism” and  prepared to enter universities to obtain specialties related to the defense sector is planned to be built within the hub.

According to Russian Ministry of Defense, young scientists, military industrial specialists, cadets, and students are expected to be recruited to Era with the purpose of “sustaining and strengthening the scientific capacity of the scientific and educational organizations in Russia, the Ministry of Defense, and also military research facilities.”
Four composite scientific companies will be organized at the military technology hub.  Two scientific squads will be established in each of them.

The proposal says that graduates, who would like to perform military service in a scientific squad, will be able to undertake research at the military technology hub on priority topics which will be agreed upon by educational organizations and experts.

The project will be built in two phases. The first phase is planned to be completed in 2018. During the first phase, management structures will be created and staff will be defined.  Then, scientific organizations will be engaged and also scientific squads will be formed.  During the second phase, representative offices of the military industrial complexes, laboratories, and engineering centers of the companies and state corporations will be deployed in the military technology hub.
