PACE begins talks about return of Russia to the Assembly
Even if its delegation returns to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Russia is not going to implement the decisions that were previously adopted by the organization, as stated by Representatives of the leadership of the Russian parliament before a meeting of the special committee of the Assembly, Yevropeyskaya Pravda reports.
“Some resolutions will never be implemented. You must clearly understand this,” said the head of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev.
This position was also confirmed by the vice-speaker of the State Duma of Russia Pyotr Tolstoy.
“We will discuss this with our colleagues firmly enough. Then we will return to the Assembly,” he said.
The first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Iryna Herashchenko, reported that at the first ad hoc committee, the Russians came in with “a host of TV cameras”.
“They behave insolently and arrogantly,” she wrote on her Facebook page. She confirmed that “the Russians told reporters that they are not going to carry out any of the Assembly’s resolutions.”
According to her, the Ukrainian delegation was not allowed to attend the meeting. It was held behind closed doors.
“An additional guard was even called. Comfortable conditions were created for the Russian guests for the debate. Only our Volodya Ariev remained,” said Herashchenko, and noted that in the room “so many people are determined to close their eyes to the occupation and annexation, to violence and murders – for payment.”
According to Vladimir Ariev, the first meeting was “about nothing.”
“The schedule was confirmed, most expressed general skepticism about this ad-hoc committee. The Russians were as quiet as fish, even when they were addressed. So, the main battles are ahead of us,” he wrote.
