Ukrainian army to add Islamic military chaplains to their ranks

Chief of the General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Viktor Muzhenko met with the Mufti of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine, Sheikh Said Ismagilov, and afterwards instructed officials to coordinate the activities of Muslim military chaplains, Krym.Realii reported.

"The problem arose in connection with the imperfection of the regulatory legislation, which does not allow this category of military chaplains to fully carry out their pastoral work... The participants of the meeting came to the conclusion about the importance of pastoral work for the spiritual needs of the members of all religions," stated the message of the public relations department of the AFU, published on the website the Ministry of Defense.

Muzhenko said that together, with God in their hearts, with patriotism and professionalism, the Ukrainian military will overcome Russian aggression. "We have one motherland - Ukraine, and we must protect it," he said.
