Ukraine showcased its upgraded 'Phantom' unmanned armored personnel carrier at an international exhibition
Ukraine introduced its newly modified “Phantom” tactical unmanned armored personnel carriers at the 2017 International Defense Exhibition in the United Arab Emirates, according to Ukroboronprom’s website.
The Phantom was developed by the Spetstehnoeksport Company, a part of the Ukroboronprom State Concern. It integrates the new “Barrier” antitank missile system that allows the APC to hit targets up to five kilometers away. It is now also equipped with a stabilized rotating platform to accommodate different types of weapons. "The Phantom’s firing tests, which were carried out with a mounted 12.7 mm machine gun, confirmed the high efficiency of the new modification," the report says.
The Phantom is driven by a hybrid engine with all-wheel drive, independent suspension and a hydraulic brake system that provides high driving performance, even on sand. It has come a long way since its first modification presented at the Arms and Security 2016 arms exhibition in Kyiv.
