Ukraine received 55 million Euros from the European Union

Ukraine received the second and final tranche of financial assistance from the European Union that amounts to 55,125,000 Euros. The first tranche of 250 million Euros was allocated in July 2014.

"This assistance means the recognition of the reforms by the EU," the Finance Ministry of Ukraine reported.

The Ministry stressed that the funds were provided to Ukraine after the European Commission assessed the implementation of reforms in the areas of combating corruption, improving public procurement, transparency, and accountability in the management of public finances and several reforms in the administrative sectors and services.

The contract for Ukraine on the development of the state and support of reforms is a part of the EU's total financial aid package that amounts to 11 billion Euros. This package was agreed to and adopted by the European Commission in March 2014.

The Ministry of Finance noted that the money will be used to finance general budget expenditures, stressing that these funds are gratuitous and irrevocable.
