Ukraine is preparing to cut off water supplies to the LPR

The Deputy Minister for the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons, George Tuka, posted on his Facebook page that Ukraine will cut off water supplies to the uncontrolled territories of the Luhansk region after the 1st of December.

Tuka noted that an agreement on the creation of a Ukrainian enterprise, which will introduce settlements for consumed water in the territories beyond Ukraine’s control, was reached during negotiations in Minsk. Ukraine also repaired water pipes and installed modern meters. However, these actions were met with total disregard by representatives from the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR).

“Their representatives just broke off contact with us, stopped returning our calls and didn’t collect the electronic keys for the meters. Authorities of the separate areas of the Luhansk region also began to reduce the number of requests for water supplies,” Tuka noted. According to him, these representatives distribute water supplies to the territories controlled by them every other day for three hours.

“The validity period of the agreement expires on the 1st of December. Thereafter, Ukraine will have no other choice but to completely cut off water supplies,” Tuka added.

In addition, the power was recently cut off at the Donetsk Filter Plant due to shelling, leaving Avdiivka and parts of Donetsk without water.
