LPR admitted that Russia saved them from defeat in 2014 and that Russian troops are welcome on their territory
The Deputy Chairman of the People’s Council of the so-called Luhansk People's Republic, Vladislav Deinego, admitted on air on one of the separatist TV channels that Russia saved the unrecognized Republics of the Donbas from destruction in August 2014, when the Ukrainian Army actively liberated occupied territories from separatists.
“When we had difficult times, we received very rapid support from our brothers who are located not far from us. This is where we can be absolutely sure that even if we don’t have enough power, Russians will help us. However, Russia will really have to bring the Russian Army to our territory for this purpose”, Deinego said.
According to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Yuriy Lutsenko, "the largest invasion of Ukraine’s territory by the Russian Armed Forces began on August 24, 2014 at 4 a.m."
Lutsenko said that "the invading Russian Armed Forces consisted of nine battalions of tactical troops consisting of up to 6,000 military personnel, approximately 60 tanks, 320 airborne infantry fighting vehicles, up to 60 pieces of artillery and 45 mortars. This invasion halted the process of liberating eastern Ukraine from illegal militarized formations, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics."
