Shoygu proposed to make Russian-Serbian BARS-2016 tactical drills an annual event

The Russian Minister of Defense, Army General Sergey Shoygu, stated at an informal meeting with the Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, that the BARS flight and tactical drills (Brotherhood of Aviators of Russia and Serbia) which took place in October in Serbia should be made an annual event.

“The BARS-2016 flight and tactical drills were successfully held in October in Serbia. It is very pleasing that BARS stands for the Brotherhood of Aviators of Russia and Serbia. That is a good name, it should gain a foothold and we should make these drills an annual event,” Shoygu said. According to the Minister, the Slavic Brotherhood-2016 joint tactical drills were also held with the participation of Belarus.

“We are doing a good job of holding joint drills and plan to develop this practice. We will exchange our approved plans for 2017 in the near future and, of course, we can’t help but recall the participation of the Serbian team in the Army International Games-2016, where you demonstrated quite good results,” Shoygu added.

In addition, the Defense Minister invited the Serbian representatives to participate in the Army-2017 international military-technical forum and the Army International Games-2017.

Also, Sergey Shoygu extended an invitation to the Serbian Minister of Defense to participate in the work of the Moscow Conference on International Security IV, which will take place in April 2017. Furthermore, Russia is ready to strengthen its military cooperation with Serbia in the area of military education.
