Security Service of Ukraine: We have the resources to capture separatist leaders

Ukraine has the resources to capture the head of the so-called DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, and the head of the so-called LPR, Igor Plotnitsky. This was said by the former chief of the main investigative department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), Major General Vasily Vovk, in an interview with Obozrevatel.

“We have resources. Not just the SSU but also, for example, the Ministry of Defense. If the task was given, it would be possible to complete it. There was even a moment when Plotnitsky was almost captured,” Vovk said.

Vovk refused to give a reason as to why the capture of Plotnitsky was unsuccessful. He said that history is silent about it and that he “will be silent as well”.

Armed confrontation between Ukrainian security forces and DPR and LPR militants began in April 2014.

According to the UN, the conflict in Donbas has resulted in more than 9,000 people being killed and more than 21,000 people being injured.
