Russia will rearm its Strategic Missile Forces with next generation ballistic missiles
The Strike Group of Russian Strategic Missile Forces will be rearmed with the fifth generation missile systems by 2027, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on its web site.
According to the Ministry, the composition of the strike group will be completely changed. It will include a new missile complex with a heavy missile, as well as new complexes with more light-class missiles.
According to Colonel General, Sergei Karakayev, new equipment and armaments are already being delivered to the Strategic Missile Forces. “Command posts of all ranks are being equipped with modern means of communication and combat management,” noted Karakayev.
Previously, the Russian Minister of Defense, Sergey Shoygu, stated that virtually all missiles launchers were in operational state and could conduct an "immediate launch" if necessary. He noted that 99 per cent of the missile launchers were in operational state, of which “96 per cent are ready for an immediate missile launch".
