Russia postpones Syrian peace talks 'indefinitely'

The Russian Federation has said that the start of the political process to restore peace talks on Syria has been postponed indefinitely. Interfax reported that this was stated by Russian Defense Minister, Sergey Shoygu.

"The prospect of the start of the political process, and the return of the Syrian people to a peaceful life, has been postponed for an indefinite period,” he said.

According to him, it is necessary to act together to destroy terrorist organizations in Syria, “and not to put spokes in the wheels of our partners as the militants use this to their advantage”.

"Every day, rebels shoot dozens of civilians in their attempts to approach the humanitarian corridors in Aleppo. Is it possible to negotiate with this type of opposition?” Shoygu asked.

He also reiterated the fact that Russia has not used any military aircraft in Aleppo for 16 days.

As previously reported by The Times, referencing Western intelligence agencies, Russian President Vladimir Putin will begin a full-scale military attack on the Syrian city of Aleppo this week.

The forces of the Syrian opposition began a large-scale offensive on the government-controlled part of the country’s northern city of Aleppo on the 28th of October.
