Russia announces that new laser weapons have been developed and tested
Russian Deputy Minister of Defense Yuriy Borisov claimed that the Russian army has already adopted a number of different types of laser weapons, equipping themselves with weapons based on new principles of physics.
According to the Russian media, Borisov spoke at the event marking the 70th anniversary of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics. The Deputy Minister said these are not exotic devices or prototypes, but models that have already passed the testing stage.
Borisov said that the Russian Federation is actively working to develop these laser weapons, which will largely change the face of the Russian Armed Forces as a result of the new state armaments program that will be implemented by 2025.
Prototypes of laser weapons with varying power and purposes have been developed by different nations since the 1970s and the 1980s. On February 4th, it became known that the US Air Force Research Laboratory started to collect the information about laser technologies available on the market that will allow to protect aircraft from missiles.
Meanwhile, a so-called "road map" of technological initiatives worth 10.8 billion rubles has been developed in the Russian Federation. The authors of the program believe that by the end of the program, neural interface, quantum computing and teleportation could be introduced in the Russian Federation.
