Pro-Kremlin journalist Graham Phillips confirmed that he was detained in Kerch

Pro-Kremlin journalist Graham Phillips confirmed on his Twitter feed that he was detained by the Kerch police. "Quick comment - yes, I was briefly detained in Kerch, because my drone was flying," he wrote.

Phillips clarified that he was arrested only for 15 minutes and was treated well.

On May 8th, the Kerch website ''Argumenty Nedeli” reported that Phillips was arrested during a torchlight procession dedicated to Victory Day. According to the newspaper, the reason for the detention was that he used a remote-controlled quadcopter drone to record a video, which was prohibited during the holidays.

On the evening of the procession, participants with torches travelled the central streets of the city up to Mount Mithridates where a theatrical performance took place. The 71st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II in Russia was celebrated on May 9th.

In Ukraine, May 8th is the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation. This commemorative date was established by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on April 9th, 2015, as a part of the policy of de-communization.

Ukrainians also celebrate Victory Day on May 9th.
