Lithuania issues manual specifying what to do if Russia invades

Lithuanians have been handed a 75-page manual telling them what to do in the event of a Russian invasion. As reported by СNN, the guide on what to do if the country is invaded is entitled, "Prepare to Survive Emergencies and War."

“Attention needs to be paid to Russia’s actions," the manual says. “This country does not hesitate to use military force against its neighbors, and at this moment it continues military aggression against Ukraine.”

Postimees news agency indicates that it is the third time that Lithuania has issued a handbook of this nature. The last one, published in December 2015, was entitled, "Prepare to Survive Emergencies and War: A Cheerful take on Serious Recommendations.” It included cartoons of a family with a cat and noted that, "while no country is immune to adversities of any nature," it is important not to panic if there is an emergency.

The latest edition, in a more serious tone, details how Lithuanians should spy on the enemy and inform authorities if Russia succeeds in occupying part of the country. In addition, there is also information in the handbook on how to provide first aid and survive in the wild.

According to an employee of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry and the author of the book, the creation and distribution of such a manual may compel Russia to abandon any potential plans for military aggression.
