The Kremlin expects to expand sales of weapons to Egypt
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin expects that there will be an increase in the military equipment provided to Egypt, including additional Ka-52 Alligator helicopters. He stated this during a meeting with the Egyptian Minister of Military Production Muhammad Al-Assar, TASS reported.
“I spoke with the Minister of Defense today and saw a depiction of where your soldiers were, but they were armed with Kalashnikovs. Russian weapons have been in your country for a long time, but I hope, as a result of our negotiations, that we add to the picture not just automatic rifles, but heavier equipment, including the transformation of the Russian Alligator [helicopter] into a Nile crocodile,” Rogozin said.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that “it is very important to us to hold detailed discussions with the political leadership of the country.”
“Our countries are politically friendly to one another, discussing problems in the Middle East and working on the issues in Syria, but the most important thing is military and technical cooperation,” stated Rogozin.
From the Egyptian side, Al-Assar expressed his hope that after the meeting with Defense Minister Sedki Sobhy, Russia and Egyptian delegations were successful in “agreeing on common goals on which to work together.”
The Ka-52 Alligator is a new generation of Russian attack and reconnaissance helicopter.
