IMF to consider next tranche to Ukraine on September 14

The IMF will consider the allocation of the next tranche of financial assistance to Ukraine on the 14th of September, 2016 as evidenced by information in the schedule of meetings of the Executive Board of the Fund, posted on the IMF website.

The President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, said that the IMF has officially included this issue in the agenda after his conversation with the MD of the Fund, Christine Lagarde. "At the end of my conversation with Christine Lagarde, the International Monetary Fund formally included the consideration of granting the next tranche to Ukraine in its agenda for September 14, 2016. I hope for a positive decision," the head of State wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday evening, September 7, 2016.

As it was previously reported, the IMF approved a program of cooperation with Ukraine in March 2015 for a period of four years with a total funding package of 17.5 billion dollars. Last year Kiev received two tranches of 5 billion USD and 1.7 billion USD. The last tranche was received in August, 2015. After that the agreement with the IMF was frozen. The decision the release of the next tranche was planned for July 2016. However, due to the non-compliance of Kiev with the e-Declaration requirement, the IMF has repeatedly postponed consideration of the disbursement of the next tranche.
