12,000 Russian youth are involved in the military-patriotic movement 'Unarmia'

12,000 Russian youth are members of the Unarmia (Young Army).

A military-patriotic movement, Unarmia, was registered in Russia that will be engaged in youth military training as announced by the First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation, Sergei Gerasimov, Interfax reported.

Gerasimov provided the registration certificate to the Chief of the Unarmia staff, the Olympic Champion, Dmitry Trunenkov.

"In accordance with the law on public associations, on the 29th of July, 2016 the state registration of the all-Russian youth military-patriotic movement Unarmia was received. From the moment of registration, the organization got its own flag, emblem and became a legal entity," Gerasimov said.

According to the Head of the Defense Ministry of Russia, Sergey Shoygu, Unarmia will be the most mobile, largest and most efficient Russian youth military-patriotic organization.

"It has only been two months since our first meeting. In this short time our organization has reached a substantial size. Our units are in 76 areas of the Russian Federation and their number grows every day," Shoygu said.

12,000 people have already joined Unarmia. It is expected that by the end of the year another 8,000 people will join the movement. "We will involve children in the target groups - young tank operators, young marines, young pilots and so forth," Trunenkov said.

Previously, the Defense Ministry of Russia informed that the Russian Army has adopted the use of individual laser weapons.
