Media: Russia preparing new ambushes on Ukrainian border guards

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) is preparing new ambushes on the border with Ukraine with the intent to capture Ukrainian border guards, as reported by UNIAN with reference to the source familiar with the situation.

"According to our information, the Russian side plans to continue to kidnap our border guards. After the situation in the Sumy region, they want to do the same thing in Luhansk region, "- said the interlocutor.

According to the source, currently, the Russians are preparing similar ambushes at the stretch of the border with the Rostov and Voronezh regions, as well as near the town of Millerovo.

"Their task is to capture our border guards patrolling the border in these areas. The FSB special units are appointed to carry out these tasks, " the source added.

As previously reported, on October 3 two Ukrainian border guards went missing in Sumy region near the border with the Russian Federation. Later it became known that they were detained by Russia. The State Boarder Guard Service of Ukraine reported that the Russian court had put them under arrest them for two month, allegedly for illegally crossing the border and resisting the Russian security officers. The Ukrainian consul has not been allowed to visit them. The State Boarder Guard Service of Ukraine did not rule out the possibility that they were detained forcefully on the territory of Ukraine.
