Large-scale military exercises begin in Ukraine

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have begun conducting the Speka (“Heat”) 2018 large-scale exercises involving territorial defense units, reported the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. 

The exercises are being conducted throughout Ukraine based on a unified schedule. The staff and military units of all types of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine take part in the exercises. Chief of General Staff, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Viktor Muzhenko leads the maneuvers.

“The primary focus will be on the south-eastern and southern directions. Speka 2018 will be completed with strategic command and staff exercises that will take place in September this year,” the statement reads.

Ukraine’s Special Operation Forces will also take part in the maneuvers.
