Kremlin: new EU sanctions unlawful

The Kremlin regrets that the leaders of the European Union have decided to extend anti-Russian economic sanctions, as the country considers the sanctions to be illegal; at the same time, Russia hopes to normalize relations with Brussels, stated the Russian President’s Press Secretary, Dmitry Peskov.

"We still regret and believe that such decisions run counter to the interests of the EU member countries and Russia. Russia still considers these sanctions illegal and wrong; yet, we are still on a course for better relations with Brussels that now leave much to be desired," said Peskov.

On December 14, the leaders of the EU countries decided to extend economic sanctions actions against Russia, which were scheduled to expire at the end of January 2018, for an additional six months.
