IMF mission to visit Ukraine in the beginning of 2018

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expects the arrival of the mission of the International Monetary Fund in early 2018, as announced during a press conference with the Acting Governor of the NBU Yakiv Smoliy.

"We expect that the arrival of the mission could happen by the end of January, respectively, the revision of the program will be made in February-March, with a tranche possible in the second quarter," Smoliy stated.

At the same time, Smoliy noted that Ukraine will not receive money from the fund this year.

"We already know that we will not receive another tranche this year. Next year, we expect two tranches of about $ 3-3.5 billion," he said.

Ukraine received one tranche of $1 billion from the IMF this year, and paid the fund $1.268 billion.

The current lending program using the Enhanced Financing Facility (EFF) began in March 2015 and will last until March 2019.

The total volume of the program amounted to $ 17.5 billion, however, Ukraine has so far only attracted $8.7 billion out of the total amount (the first tranche of $ 5 billion was released in March 2015, the second of $1.7 billion in August 2015, the third of $1 billion in September 2016, and the fourth of $1 billion in April 2017).
