Former Ukrainian president Poroshenko investigated over holidays in Maldives

Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) is investigating a possible illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine by the fifth President Petro Poroshenko, reports the press-service of the Bureau.

SBI says that the investigation relates to the holiday of the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in the Maldives. As part of this case, investigators are checking information about the illegal crossing of the state border using fake documents by Poroshenko .

It is assumed that officials of Ukraine’s Customs and State Border Service used false information in official documents, thus ensuring Poroshenko unhindered border crossing.

The proceedings were commenced at the request of the former deputy head in the administration of ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych Andriy Portnov.

In early 2018, the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko secretly went on vacation to the Maldives. Later media reported that during his holiday Poroshenko spent about 14 million hryvnias ($547,516.62 USD)
