• Ukraine and Canada sign free trade agreement

    Ukraine and Canada have signed a free trade agreement. The Canadian Minister of International Trade, Chrystia Freeland, and First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Stepan Kubiv, signed the agreement. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko noted that the work to expand this agreement will start immediately.     The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) rejected almost all applications from Russian track and field athletes to participate in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.   • UN: Number of civilian victims of the war in the Donbas is the highest since August 2015

    The number of civilian victims in the Donbas has reached its highest point since August 2015, as stated in the latest report by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs which was made public on Friday, 8 July. According to the UN, in June, clashes continued in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine.  Just this month 12 people were killed and another 57 were injured in the Donbas.

    Speaking at the NATO Summit in Warsaw on Saturday, US President Barack Obama said that relations with Moscow cannot normalize until Russia implements the Minsk agreements, Radio Svoboda reported.

  • Russia expels two US diplomats

    The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the expulsion of two employees from the US Embassy in Moscow, identified as CIA agents. The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Ryabkov, said this on Saturday, July 9. According to him, it’s a response to the US having reported the expulsion of two Russian officials from the US the day before.
