51 people convicted in 2017 for undermining Ukraine's security

51 suspects were charged and convicted of having committed crimes against the foundations of Ukraine's national security in the first half of 2017. The relevant information was reported to UNN news agency by the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine. Another three suspects were acquitted of the same charges.

In the first half of 2017, there were 264 cases under these articles against 435 suspects in Ukrainian courts. 71 cases were examined in the first half of the year.

The most recent high profile threat to national security came in the form of Nadiya Savchenko’s expulsion from the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on National Security and Defense. Savchenko was unanimously expelled for meeting with leaders of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic and Donetsk People’s Republic.
