The Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev said on Friday that Russian youth must be protected from the influence of the Internet and the encroachments of Foreign Intelligence Services.

The Russian government has banned the organizers of information distribution (i.e. messenger applications) from disclosing information on collaboration with law enforcement authorities, as stated in a decree from January 18, published on Russia’s official legal information portal.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law which envisages fines for messengers that do not comply with Russian legislation.
