Ukrainian government declares a state of emergency due to energy situation
On the 15th of February, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine declared a state of emergency with respect to the country’s energy situation, by issuing an order “to adopt temporary extreme measures in the electric energy market”. US company to build nuclear fuel plant in Ukraine
Ukraine has reached agreements with Westinghouse with regard to the increase of supply, and the future construction of a nuclear plant in the country. Interfax-Ukraine reported that this was said by the Minister of Energy and Coal Mining of Ukraine, Ihor Nasalik.
“We have agreed on the diversification of supplies to nearly half of the nuclear units. We have also agreed to build a nuclear fuel plant in Ukraine,” Nasalik said.

Kiev denies reports that Ukraine resorted to emergency energy purchases from Russia
Ukrainian authorities denied the reports that the government made emergency purchases of energy from the Russian Federation at high tariff rates. Kiev officials declared that Ukraine does not lack for power sources.

On November 11, Ukraine intends to terminate electricity imports from Russia.
