  • Kremlin confirms that Su-25 was shot down with Russian air defense system in Syria

    Major Roman Filipov’s Su-25 assault jet was shot down in Syria with a missile from a Russian Igla man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS), said Franz Klintsevich, deputy chairman of the Federation Council Defense and Security Committee.

    Russian senator Igor Morozov has claimed that the surface-to-air missile system (SAM) that shot down a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft in Syria may have reached the rebels through contraband channels from the military arsenal in the Ukrainian city of Kalynivka, located in the Vinnytsia Oblast, RIA Novosti reported.

    Morozov suggested that the Ukrainian SAM came to Syria after a large-scale fire at the ammunition depots in Kalynivka.

  • Media: One in five Sukhoi Superjet-100s were grounded due to a defect

    Every fifth Sukhoi Superjet-100 (SSJ100) passenger plane has been temporarily taken out of service due to a defect in one of the parts of the tail. Vedomosti newspaper reported this on Wednesday, January 19. Defects were detected in 19 out of 87 planes belonging to different airlines.
