Moldova abolishes law granting Russian language interethnic status
The Constitutional Court of Moldova recognized that the law on language statuses, which was adopted in 1989, was outdated. The law defines the Russian language as the language of interethnic communication in the country, Ukrinform reports.

South Ossetia transfers its schools to Russian language
Beginning from the new academic year, Georgian schools in South Ossetia, the territory that declared independence from Georgia in 1991, are shifting to the Russian educational program and will teach courses using the Russian language. The Georgian language will be taught to schoolchildren only as a particular subject, BBC News reports.

50.5% of the Ukrainian population use the Ukrainian language as the main language of everyday communication, according to a large poll conducted by the leading sociological centers of the country, KIIS, Rating, SOTSIS, and the Razumkov Center.
