Members of a special OSCE monitoring mission in Ukraine were fired upon near the settlement of Kominternovo in the Volnovakhsky district of the Donetsk region, as reported by the Press Service of the SMM on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred on Sunday, December 27th, at around 11:20.  The observers’ cars came under fire by small arms munitions and were forced to return to the separatist-controlled Donetsk region.  No members of the mission were injured in the attack.

In the Iraqi province of Kirkuk, US Special Forces captured one of the leaders of the so-called Islamic State, Abu Omar Ash-Shishani. American commandos caught Ash-Shishani and two field commanders and killed 7 militants during a special operation in the Riyadh region of the Kirkuk province. The three terrorists were reportedly brought to the city of Sulaymaniyah in Northeastern Iraq.

A Ukrainian soldier was killed while three others were injured in the latest conflict in the Anti-Terrorist Operations zone. This was reported at a press briefing on Sunday by the representative of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine concerning the ATO, Colonel Alexander Motuzyanik.

Militants opened fire on positions of the ATO forces 66 times. Near Zaitsev in particular, weapons prohibited by the Minsk Agreement were used for shelling ATO positions, resulting in one civilian death.

The Russian Air Force carried out another raid on the Syrian city of Idlib. Nine people were killed, including children while 11 more were wounded. A representative of the civil defense forces of the area, Dzhardzhanaz Mahmoud Dagim, reported that the local school building was bombed.

This is not the first Russian air raid on Idlib. On December 20th, dozens of people were killed as Russia carried out air strikes on the marketplace as well as several administrative and residential buildings. …
