Ukraine scraps the program for economic cooperation with Russia

The Government of Ukraine has terminated the economic cooperation program with Russia for 2011 – 2020, UNIAN news agency reports.

The program assumes the elimination of trade barriers between the two countries. During the government meeting it was decided to terminate the agreement and inform the Russian side of its annulment through the channels of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On March 16, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman promised to do everything to end the "imposed" ties with the Russian economy.

The program was adopted in 2011 and it was expected to last until 2020. Its main objectives were "deepening economic integration in order to achieve sustained high rates of economic growth, boost national competitiveness" and "partnership for the integrated modernization of national economies".
