Ukraine and China agreed to implement $7 billion worth of joint contracts
Ukraine and China agreed on deepening cooperation at a meeting between the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Volodymyr Groysman and Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Ma Kai, according to the Ukrainian government’s website.
“As Ukraine and China celebrate 25 years of diplomatic relations they reach for a new strategic level of cooperation that envisages the implementation of joint projects worth approximately USD 7 billion,” the statement read.
Ma Kai stressed that China was particularly interested in developing cooperation with Ukraine both in the political field and the trade-economic sector.
According to the report, during the first nine months of 2017, trade turnover between China and Ukraine grew by 14.5% to USD 5.6 billion.
“Kyiv invites Chinese investors to actively engage in the massive privatization of Ukrainian assets,” the statement from the Ukrainian government read.
Prime Minister Groysman also announced that 2019 would be declared the Year of China in Ukraine.
As it was earlier reported, China wanted to send freight trains to the European Union through Ukraine and also intended to import Ukrainian food products.
