Russian Defense Ministry: Russia and Syria haven't bombed Aleppo for a week

The Russian and Syrian Air Forces have completely stopped flights over Aleppo during the last seven days, stated the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, on Tuesday, October 25. “Aircraft do not approach the city and do not attack,” Konashenkov said. According to the colonel, six humanitarian corridors continue to work for civilians on a round-the-clock basis; points providing hot meals and first aid are open.

A representative from the Defense Ministry reported that, in the evening on Monday, 48 women and children were able to leave eastern Aleppo.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Stephen O’Brien stated in New York that a plan to evacuate the injured from Aleppo failed.

“Once again, military and political logic win over basic humanity,” the AFP agency cites the diplomat as saying.

The fact that no results have been achieved, despite the days-long negotiations on evacuating the injured and patients from the town where there has been intensive fighting, is a cause for deep distress.

According to the UN representative, the plan to evacuate the injured was resisted by both rebel groups and representatives from Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
