Yulia Tymoshenko says she intends to run for President of Ukraine

During a broadcast of News One TV, the leader of the Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) Party, Yulia Tymoshenko declared her intention to run for the Presidency of Ukraine.

"I will no longer delegate this business to anyone. I will run for the Presidency. We are going to win in order to put the country back on its feet," she stated.

Tymoshenko noted that she had previously supported the election of Viktor Yushchenko as President and Arseniy Yatsenyuk as Prime Minister, but that neither support had led to anything.

"I have trusted the leaders of the country more than once, including my vote to govern the country. You know that I supported Yushchenko for the presidency and for the post of Prime Minister. I will no longer entrust my vote, the vote of my team, the vote of people who trust us, to anyone," Tymoshenko summarized.

The next presidential election is to be held in Ukraine in the spring of 2019.
