Ukrainian President thanks Croatia for sharing its experience in reintegration of uncontrolled territories

Ukrainian President and Croatian Prime Minister satisfied with the work of the working group on Zagreb’s experience with the reintegration of occupied territories

President Petro Poroshenko and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković are satisfied with the work of the bilateral working group studying Croatia’s experience in the reintegration of temporarily occupied territories, as reported on the Ukrainian President’s website, following a meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

"[The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Croatia] expressed satisfaction with the launch of the practical work of the bilateral working group on the study of the unique experience of Croatia in the peaceful reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories," the report said.

Poroshenko thanked Plenković for consistently supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, as well as for Zagreb’s active political, humanitarian and expert assistance.

"The Head of State thanked Andrej Plenković for Croatia’s co-authorship of the UN General Assembly resolution on human rights in Crimea and Sevastopol (Ukraine), which was adopted in December 2017," the report says.

The parties also discussed prospects for Ukraine's participation in energy projects that are being implemented in Croatia and are aimed at strengthening the energy security of Europe.

Croatia previously decided to provide Ukraine with advice on the reintegration of the separatist-held territories of Donbas and the Crimea that have been annexed by Russia.

Plenković, known as a lobbyist for European integration of Ukraine, won 91 out of 151 seats in the Croatian parliament according to the results of the fall 2016 parliamentary elections. After his election, Plenković promised that he would continue to provide diplomatic support to Ukraine.
