Ukraine and Turkey consider joint military shipbuilding projects

The commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Ihor Voronchenko, said that Turkey and Ukraine plan to have joint projects, primarily in the field of shipbuilding, Ukrinform reports.

After participating in the International Defense Industry Fair IDEF-2019, he noted that the exhibition was "very rich", including representation from many leading and well-known companies, in particular, Turkish ones.

“We already have some cooperation projects regarding the implementation of the corvette-type ships and rocket boats construction,” he said.

The Ukrainians met with the commander of the Turkish Naval Forces , Adnan Özbal.

“We once again went through all the aspect of international cooperation between the Navy of Turkey and Ukraine. I was assured that international cooperation will continue to expand to provide relevant information exchange, training, security in the Black Sea region and participation in international exercises,“ he added.

According to him, at the moment there are several promising Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation projects. Voronchenko announced that a cooperation plan will be drawn up and will begin to operate in the near future.

"The Turkish side is also interested in our producers, especially manufacturers of the ship power plants, and others," he said.

Earlier, it was reported that Turkey intends to provide tens of millions of dollars assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
