Russian senator: Trump was not ready to meet with Putin

Russian senator Aleksey Pushkov commented on Twitter about a meeting held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump at a reception held in honor of the APEC Summit leaders, calling the meeting a “record for brevity”.

"The meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States in Da Nang was a record for brevity. Trump was not ready for the talks - he is bound hand and foot," Pushkov said.

The senator also stressed that the relationship between the US and Russia "hovered at the extreme point of the pendulum, at around ‘minus’".

"Today, nothing is able make the pendulum move in the reverse direction," he wrote.

It was earlier reported that Trump had left the hall where the reception was held before the closing ceremony. Trump and Putin did not communicate during the dinner.

The two world leaders only greeted each other with a handshake. The White House earlier also reported that Trump and Putin would not be meeting in Vietnam due to scheduling differences.
