Russia to send group of strategic bombers and military cargo aircraft to South Africa

A group of strategic bombers and military cargo aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces will go to South Africa in the framework of bilateral cooperation, reports RIA Novosti news agency, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.

The Ministry informed that the air group will include two Tu-160 strategic bombers and military cargo aircraft Il-62 and An-124 Ruslan. Russian Defense Ministry also reported that the purpose of the visit is the development of military cooperation between the two countries and the development of relations between the Russian Aerospace Forces and the South African Air Force.

In November, Russian Tu-22M3, Tu-95MS, and Tu-160 strategic aircraft also participated in the operation of Russian combat aviation in Syria.
