Putin met Ukrainian MP Medvedchuk in Crimea

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, during a trip to the Crimea met with a representative of Ukraine from one of the subgroups of the Trilateral Contact Group, Viktor Medvedchuk, as reported by RBC news agency, citing sources.

Putin was in the annexed peninsula for three days, as of Friday, August 18. He went to Sevastopol, visited the Chersonesus reserve and the Tavrida children's camp.

During his visit, Putin made time for closed talks with Medvedchuk.

"The leader of the Ukrainian Choice political party, Medvedchuk, during the visit by the Russian President, "was definitely in the Crimea," and over the last two years, Putin has regularly met with him during his trips to the peninsula," the newspaper reported, citing its sources.

During their meeting, they discussed the issues of Ukrainian politics, the implementation of the Minsk Agreements, and the exchange of prisoners. Presumably, the conversation was held late in the evening on August 18th.
Putin is the godfather of Medvedchuk’s daughter.

Medvedchuk now represents Ukraine in the Trilateral Contact Group’s subgroup on humanitarian issues, tasked with settling the conflict in the Donbas. He is working on the exchange of prisoners.
