Prime Minister of Ukraine demands residents of Donbas be provided with drinking water

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman demanded that urgent measures be taken to provide drinking water to residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The decision was made based on the results of an extraordinary meeting of the State Commission for Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations,  reported the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Groysman instructed that an uninterrupted supply of electricity be restored for Voda Donbasa water supply and wastewater disposal facilities.

“According to the order signed by the head of state, it is necessary to restore and ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity to Voda Donbassa water supply and wastewater disposal facilities as well as give the enterprise the status of “protected consumer”. At the same time, it is necessary to make an inventory of water supply reserve sources,” reads the statement.

For the period of time that there is no centralized water supply, water supply and sanitary control will be provided for on relevant premises and areas.

The residents of the occupied territories are 3.8 billion hryvnia in debt to the utility company Voda Donbasa for water supply and wastewater disposal services.
