Warsaw: NATO to discuss expansion of alliance at the next summit

Pawel Soloch, Head of the National Security Bureau of Poland, told Rzeczpospolita news outlet in an interview that the expansion of NATO will be one of the issues for discussion at the meeting of the NATO member-state heads in Brussels on May 25.

According to him, this agenda was inspired by threats “from the east” and Russia’s “aggressive politics”.

“We must be united in the matters which concern us – regarding Russia’s aggressive politics, also regarding the threat from the east, and we must also bring up the matter of expanding NATO,” Soloch said.

He also pointed out that NATO will not back down from the goal of accepting new members, and the next candidates for joining the alliance are Montenegro, Georgia and Ukraine.

“The next candidate is Montenegro, Georgia is waiting in line, and there is discussion with Ukraine. NATO has not given up the idea of expansion,” said the head of the National Security Bureau of Poland.
