Ukraine tells UN that Russia is supplying weapons to separatists in Donbas

During the meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, the representatives of the Ukrainian delegation said that separatists in eastern Ukraine have received weapons and ammunition from the neighboring state.

“The international policy aimed at stopping the supply of weapons to terrorists, faces a problem when the states that must adhere to it, in fact, are violating their own international obligations and promises. One of the most striking modern examples of this is the continual influx of various weapons from the neighboring state to the annexed territories of eastern Ukraine,” as indicated in the speech.

The Ukrainian delegation stated, “A rhetorical question arises: how did terrorist organizations in Ukraine receive weapons in quantities often exceeding the reserves of many states on the European continent? Or why have the terrorists never run out of fuel and ammunition?”

Diplomats also indicated that weapons received from abroad were used to commit destructive terrorist attacks, including those used to take down the Boeing flight MN17.

Earlier, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the UN to respond timely to conflicts in the world, noting that the organization did nothing to stop the annexation of the Crimea or Russian military aggression in eastern Ukraine.
