Ukraine's anti-corruption bureau received information on Party of Region's graft scheme

As reported by their press-service, the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) confirmed that they received from former First Deputy Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Viktor Trepak the so-called “black accounting” documents of the Party of Regions.

"In response to numerous media requests, we announce that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau really did receive Viktor Trepak’s application with attachments on Friday, May 27th," the statement reads.

The NABU assured that these documents will be investigated by analysts and detectives in order to determine the existence of evidence that may indicate the possible commission of a crime. However, they also assert that “the Bureau cannot comment on the content of the documents or evaluate Viktor Trepak’s statements.”

"The NABU receives several hundred requests… every day. That is why we call on politicians, media and public not to resort to speculation about the documents and to wait for an official conclusion, which will be made public after investigating the information,” the Bureau emphasized.

On Saturday, an interview with Trepak was published, who stated that he submitted to NABU the documents confirming illegal payments made by a number of former and current senior officials of the Party of Regions. According to him, the documents detailed the so-called "black accounting" of the Party of Regions with total payments of about $2 billion. Trepak claims that "officials at the highest level, ministers and chief executives of agencies, people’s deputies, well-known politicians, public figures, representatives of international organizations, judges, including judges of the higher courts are among the individuals involved in this case."
